Accessibility statement

Local Bellevue is built to be usable by everyone, including people using screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification and reduced motion.

Our commitment

We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 508. Accessibility is treated as an ongoing practice, not a one-time audit.

Measures we take

· Semantic HTML landmarks, headings in order, and a single H1 per page.
· Full keyboard operability with visible focus indicators.
· Color contrast ratios of at least 4.5:1 for body text.
· Descriptive alt text on meaningful images; decorative images hidden.
· Labeled form fields, clear error messaging, no time-limited inputs.
· Text that reflows to 320px width and scales to 200% without loss of content.
· Respect for the operating system's reduced-motion preference.
· Belle AI answers are plain text, readable by assistive technology.

Known limitations

Some third-party content — embedded videos, maps and weather data — is outside our control and may not fully conform. Where that happens we provide a text equivalent of the essential information.

Accessibility in Bellevue

The City of Bellevue maintains ADA transition plans for sidewalks and parks, accessible play areas at Downtown Park and Crossroads Park, and paratransit through King County Metro Access. Sound Transit's Link stations are step-free with elevators.
